BEIGHT BRIDGE

Title:   Beight Bridge - RTA Damage
Client: Stockport MBC
Value: £16,000
Scope:Repair works to this historic structure became necessary after vehicle impact. Each stone had to be re-laid in the same position and was numbered before removal. Repairs to each stone were carried-out individually and 3 replacement stones were dressed on-site.

 

CROW TREES FARM

Title:  Crow Trees Farm Bridge
Client: Bury MBC
Value: £49,000
Scope:Complete restoration of the bridge including repairs to the invert and arch ring, scour protection, reconstruction of the parapets and surfacing works. Temporary works included overpumping of flows and temporary support to the arch ring.

 

POCKLINGTON CANAL

Title:  Swingbridge No.8 – Pocklington Canal
Client: British Waterways
Value: £65,000
Scope:The Pocklington Canal was being restored, swingbridge No.8 had been fixed for many years and was badly corroded. Works included removal of the existing bridge, reconstruction of ballast walls and abutments, installation and balancing of the new bridge. The site was within a SSSI and care was needed to preserve the ecology.

 

SCHOOL STREET FOOTBRIDGE

Title:  School Street Footbridge
Client: Bury MBC
Value: £110,000
Scope:The existing footbridge was beyond economical repair and was too narrow for cyclists. After removal of the existing bridge the abutments were modified with corbelled ashlar masonry and new bearing shelves before installation of the new cyclebridge. The bridge approaches were widened and realigned to accommodate the wider structure. The site was within 200 metres of an SSSI and required special measures to preserve the ecology.

 

WODEN STREET FOOTBRIDGE

Title:  Woden Street Footbridge
Client: City of Salford
Value: £155,000
Scope:
The steel bridge was suffering from corrosion of the deck support members which were replaced before the whole structure was repainted. Repairs were carried-out to the surface of the deck and approach ramps before an anti-sip surface was applied. The bridge spans the River Irwell and extensive temporary works were necessary to provide access to the structure and prevent debris from polluting the watercourse.
