FW Sherratt commenced trading in 1948 and was formed by the Grandfather, of the current Managing Director.  We originate from Romiley in Stockport.

Civil engineering and building contracting have always been our principle activities. 

Into the 1960s/70s, FW Sherratt secured many contracts such as: drainage, sewage and canal works. Reclamation services became a natural extension and later British Waterways awarded significant projects.  Indeed one was awarded National recognition, where the Firm was recognised in the 'Local Government News/Street Design' ceremony, called 'True Spirit of Partnering'. 

Local authorities have become a key supplier of regular work.

When tendering, we submit realistic pricing to give the client a true indication of the cost of the works from the outset. This means that during the works we are able to offer value engineered solutions and we do not need to be adversarial or claims conscious. Realistic pricing means that we sometimes loose the contract, but the client often stands to loose more.

We are are able to draw upon many years of experience to offer our clients practical advice during the planning and design stages of their project. Early contractor involvement can often provide value engineerined solutions and reduce the risk of on-site delays, to the benefit of the client; the contractor; and anyone that is affected by the works.
