Retaining Walls

On ALL contracts below we were Principal Contractor.

 

BULLHOLME LOCK

Title:   Bullholme Lock
Client: British Waterways
Value: £33,000
Scope: Bullholme Lock stands at the entrance to the Aire and Calder Navigation which is used for commercial and recreational purposes. The entrance to the lock is difficult to navigate and the point had been ‘rubbed’ many times by commercial vessels resulting in failure of the masonry. We accurately measured each stone and cut/dressed replacement stones before starting works on-site. Timber fender were installed for the commercial craft to rub. Bullholme Lock remained fully operational throughout the works.

 

CHRISTCHURCH SCHOOL RETAINING WALL

Title:  Christchurch Primary School
Client: Oldham MBC
Value: £35,000
Scope:The existing retaining wall was failing and cracks had begun to appear in the school buildings. We installed temporary works to support the buildings before constructing a masonry faced reinforced concrete wall.

 

KILN WATERFRONT

Title:  Kiln Warehouse
Client: British Waterways
Value: £188,000
Scope:Kiln Warehouse had been refurbished and was in use by as British Waterways when we began the construction of a reinforced concrete tied pile-capping, together with hard and soft landscaping to complete their new regional headquarters. Formwork was erected and stripped from floating pontoons, subject to water levels in the River Trent.

 

LIME BANK STREET

Title:   Lime Bank Street Retaining Wall
Client: Greater Manchester Council
Value: £43,000
Scope:
The existing retaining wall was failing due to scour, we drove sheet piles to guard against future scour and rebuilt/re-faced failed sections of the wall. The embankment was re-graded to reduce pressure on the wall.
